I was asked to go along to The Twelve O’clock Show on Saturday 15th February on the lunchtime programme with Livvy and Chrissie on BBC Radio Bristol and to chat about the Agency. It was all about Valentine weekend (if there is such a thing) with topics about dating, plastic surgery and keeping youthful, the meaning of roses and cooking/recipes by the lovely Martin Blunos – soon to open a new restaurant in Bath …. all obviously close to a girl’s heart! Perhaps men would have opted for cars (how to impress a lady), what rugby or football team she supports and whether she is a good cook! Although without being cynical, I do think men are still romantic, thoughtful and know what we ladies like when it comes to this special day in the year! Just looking at the men ‘popping’ into the supermarket and buying flowers says it all – I spoke to a lovely old gent who said that he had been married for 50 years but although his lovely wife was worth it, had cost him quite a lot over the years!!
I don’t pretend to be an expert as generously described by Livvy and Chrissie, but I do try to empathise, listen and encourage anyone who is brave enough to venture into the dating world! So many people who approach me feel that they are still young enough to look for that special person in their life.
I did say that I had read in the newspaper that it is the small things in life which are important to anyone in a relationship and the little words of gratitude we forget to say to our partner – it is easy to take someone for granted after years with the same person. Sadly too, that they claimed that one in four relationships were not happy and perhaps that is food for thought! I do meet clients who are newly separated and suggest that perhaps it is worth seeing if there is another chance to make it work out.
If you would like to listen to me, go to the BBC Radio Bristol Website on ‘Listen again’ and click on The Twelve O’clock Show with Livvy and Chrissie (Saturday 15th February) – it is about 23 minutes into the show!
